Montañinta is small town on the coast and is part of the province Santa Elena. The place is famous as a surfers location with a hippie atmosphere visited by many local and foreigner tourists. What used to be a small town with some fisherman and a few surfers is now a town that´s full of tourists eating ceviches in the centre and enjoying the beautiful beach. At night the bars open and there are a lot people wandering through the streets drinking a coktail. Montañita´s beach is considered to be one of the best beaches of Ecuador´s south coast.
